STURGEON BAY, WI -- A million and a half ash trees are at risk of being lost in Door County. The DNR says the invasive Emerald Ash Borer is to blame. As the invasive, bullet-shaped, winged insect--which gets its name from the emerald color it displays--matures within the bark of an ash tree, it chews its way through the bark, effectively killing the tree by cutting off its nutrient supply.
