The United States and Israel, long time allies, saw their relations strained in 2010. US President Barack Obama made resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict a top foreign policy priority. Many in Israel have resented the pressure that the US administration has placed on the Jewish state to engage in peace negotiations with the Palestinians.
