A year after the 1989 civic election, two men, one Irish (the host), another one Scottish (the guest), discuss the rapid transit issue in Winnipeg. The guest has recently toured the SkyTrain control centre in Surrey, BC and says that LRT would be best for Winnipeg. 

Host: "...looked at by Council, and with normal procedures and studies and reviews, when do you think this could possibly come into play here in Winnipeg?" 

Guest: "I can see them talking about it within the next year or two, some very serious plans being made about it."

While I didn't catch the beginning of this program, a video clip on YouTube by "MetroVancouver" gives a tour of SkyTrain central.

"I think it could actually, maybe before the year 2000, we could have it implemented in the city of Winnipeg. It's something the city should be looking into, it's something that people want."

"Who wants to take a bus from Fort Richmond to downtown, and have it take half and hour, on a good day? That's if you can get past all the stalled cars and everything. LRT, you might get there in half the time or a third of the time, or a quarter of the time."
