The Western Cape is facing a daunting fire season with the effects of global warming impacting
on the size and intensity of runaway fires. 
The Cape Winelands District has launched its Fire Season Preparedness programme.  
As the largest in the province, the district spans more 23 - thousand square kilometers.
It is a mountainous fynbos rich area, which increases the risk of runaway fires.
