Free youth and adult swim lessons are available from the Dayton Department of Recreation and Youth Services from August 20 to September 9.The free, 45-minute lessons are scheduled by age group (ages 6 months to 5 years, 5 to 15 years, and 16 and up) and are designed to promote the importance of knowing how to swim. The classes will give people who may be hesitant about swimming an opportunity to sample the City's aquatic classes and demonstrate how easy it is to learn to swim.Drowning and injuries resulting from the lack of swimming skills are often preventable said LaShea Smith, Director of Recreation and Youth Services. "We are providing free swim lessons as a community service for three weeks to encourage everyone to take a class that may say a life. The lessons will be offered at three City of Dayton pools: the Family Aquatic Center (2021 W. Third St., 333-4742)
