Students from the RMIT's Diploma of Fashion Design and Technology worked with charity organisation Lifeline Gippsland. The challenge - to design and create cocktail dresses from recycled garments and fabrics as part of their sustainability studies.
 
Students sourced recycled textiles, such as curtains, manchester and old garments to create original cocktail dresses. The theme focused on Melbourne's Spring racing carnival. The journey from concept to completion pushed the students creativity, imagination and resourcefulness to their limits.
 
The result showed a depth and growth in the students understanding of sourcing materials, design and garment construction.
 
This amazing and inspirational short film shows the students talking about sourcing material and constructing their garments. Culminating in a extravagant fashion parade with over 60 models in brilliant Racy redesigned cocktail dresses.
