What happens when something breaks on the homestead? YOU FIX IT! Homesteading is about learning new skills. Being self sufficient is about relying more on you instead of always going to someone else. We live in a day and age where if you have enough money, you can always pay someone to fix your problems. The result is that you find yourself always being a dependent to those around you. Homesteading is about breaking that dependency.
