The skies had been cloudy all day and we knew a storm was on the way but when it finally broke the sheer ferocity of the rain and wind was utterly exhilarating!! 

Chips was lulled to sleep by the rain hitting the roof of our apartment - it was so powerful I thought it was hailing at first - but the sight of the trees bending in the wind and the water coming down in waves got me too excited to rest any longer. 

I was up and out on the deck standing in the wind and spray from the rain within moments - and I stayed out there for as long as I could, even as my fingers got so cold they were beginning to hurt, to just savor the moment in the storm. 

Rainstorms are one of those amazing things in life that don't wait for you - they arrive and move across the land at their own pace, one of the few things still outside of human influence. I love dropping everything I am doing in a life that is so lived on my schedule and pace and riding out the strongest parts of storms with the weather.

That moment, like so many other in nature, will only exist just then. There is no going back later, there is no selecting a time and place best for me to enjoy a storm - there just is the moment. I love that and I love that I can give myself permission now to drop everything and live it when it arrives.
