Fire station no. 5 will be built according to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards and will be the second fire station to be located in West Allen. Construction will take approximately one year. The City anticipates hiring 12 fire fighters to staff the new station. Funding for fire station no. 5 was approved by voters in the 2007 Bond Election. Construction will cost approximately $5 million with $1.8 million funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Station Construction Grant.
