Sri Lanka 1930s Shipping tea from Colombo harbour
Exterior of the E&S Cooperative Wholesale Society building. Labourers or coolies unload a train carriage full of tea chests. One by one they are transferred onto a barge at the quayside. Lots of tying and untying of ropes as barges are moved out to where a ship is at anchor. A tug tows multiple barges. Tea chests are roped together and hauled on board the ship. Repeated views of cargo being craned onto the vessel. Ship leaves harbour in Colombo.
