Jovan Mays, Franklin Cruz, and Serena Chopra moderated by Aruni Kashyap Jovan Mays is the Emeritus Poet Laureate of Aurora, Colorado, and the Director of Your Writing Counts, a youth poetry program that engages over 200,000 students annually in the Denver metro area. Serena Chopra is an author and a poet, currently composing a novel informed by her research with queer women in Bangalore, India. Franklin Cruz is a poet and spoken word artist whose work reflects on being a first-generation child of immigrant parents, being a brown queer child, and recalling the traditional indigenous faith of curanderismo.
