Hello and welcome. My name is Matt Leighton and today we are looking at The Hawthorn Condominium. The Hawthorn is located at 820 North Pollard Street. It is located right in the Virginia Square and Ballston neighborhood.

The Hawthorn was built in 2006 and has 135 units on 9 stories. 

The community features modern amenities like a fitness center, business center, and outdoor courtyard. The only downside is that there’s no pool and no rooftop deck. A lot of similar condo communities will have a pool or a rooftop deck, or a pool on a rooftop deck. So that’s a minor downside.

The interiors of the residences here are pretty nice. Most feature hardwood floors, open kitchens with stainless steel appliances, good closet space. And many units feature outdoor balconies.

Ok let’s take a look at the top 3 things you need to know about The Hawthorn:

Gold’s Gym Development? - Right across the street from The Hawthorn is Gold’s Gym. It’s been there since 2000. What they basically did was transform Al’s Motors in the gym you see today. And it’s only a matter of time until the 3 acre site will be developed. You see Liberty Center right across Wilson that used to be a bus parking lot now turned into apartments…I am not saying look out for it next year, but 5, 10, 20 years down the line you still think that the lot will be a glorified garage and surface parking lot. Come on. Keep an eye on this moving forward.

Monument Realty - Monument Realty is a very active developer in the Washington D.C. area. When they completed The Hawthorn back in 2006, the building won an award for the design. Another notable Arlington property that they built is The Odyssey in Courthouse. Whenever you buy a new condo or house for that matter, it’s nice to know the developer has a solid track-record and has other projects in the immediate area.

Retail Space - At The Hawthorn there is over 5700 square feet of retail. There’s a lot of businesses that call The Hawthorn home. You have your typical Arlington businesses like a salon, and a fitness/nutrition center. You also have Willy’s Barber shop, one of the better barber shops in Arlington. (what can I say?) [fix hair in camera]

There you have it, the top 3 things you need to know about living at The Hawthorn. Just to recap, number one is Gold’s Gym Development, number two is Monument Realty, and number three is Retail Space.
