Bette Ann Libby’s images have been inspired by her sojourn in Samoa and travels in Europe, Asia, India, the Middle and Far East. She has received numerous awards for her work, which have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the US.  Primarily a studio potter early in her career, she began to explore ceramic sculpture, and later, ceramic shard mosaics. 

Bette Ann Libby’s community ceramic shard mosaic murals are permanently located in hospitals, schools and libraries, and she is passionate about fostering the creative experience as a vehicle toward community connectivity and well-being. In her talk, Shard Stories, Bette Ann describes her journey as a potter, and shares how a 60-car pile-up on Route 93 led to find new inspiration in shattered ceramic shards, reusing the broken pieces to create new images in a new order; essentially, illustrating the process of evolution through ceramic shard mosaics.
