Usually a microcontroller (computer chip) would drive an LED matrix circuit like this to display text and so on, but here the inputs to the matrix are controlled by simple audio oscillators and noise signals By playing with the oscillator frequencies, noise density and routing of signals into the LED matrix all kinds of patterns and strobing effects come out of the LEDs - its all kind of hypnotic and trippy! The sound is the oscillators themselves, with a bit of EQ and delay.
