November 16 is World Falconry Day! The 2018 theme of “Women falconers…Wings for falconry” honors the current and historic contributions of women falconers. You don’t have to be an experienced falconer to celebrate the day. Historic hotels across the U.S. offer falconry classes to their guests, including The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. Guests can register for beginner or intermediate lessons to meet the birds in their mew, observe flight demonstrations, learn about the 4,000-year history of the sport of kings and hold a bird of prey for a Rocky Mountain photo op. Intermediate students get to fly one of the birds with the help of a falconer.
