The officer had been working inside the Walmart when an employee came in to report having been robbed by someone in a gray vehicle around 11 p.m., Mitchell said. When the officer went outside to investigate, another person approached him, saying they'd been followed into the parking lot by strangers in a white vehicle, which was still driving erratically around the lot, according to Police. As the officer approached the white vehicle, it drove toward and "intentionally struck" him, Warren said, then fled the scene as the officer opened fire.
