The Nigerian National Health Insurance Scheme was established under section 35 of the 1999 constitution to improve the health of every Nigerian by providing easy access to healthcare at an affordable cost through various prepayment system. Over the years, the institution was embroiled with one Leadership crisis or the other. But the stroke that broke the camel's back was the latest alleged corrupt practices and financial reckless of the recently suspended Executive Secretary, prof. Yusuf Usman. To this end, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the independent investigation of the NHIS boss who has in the past survive several attempts made to remove him. ROOTS TV REPORTS
