This digital instant-read thermometer has everything you need, and a few extra features for those gadget freaks out there.  Just flip out the temperature probe and stick it in what you're cooking.  Careful, it's sharp, but that way it can pierce the meat easier!

The display is backlit and is very easy to read in bright daylight or complete darkness.  It can read in Fahrenheit and Celsius, and there's a HOLD function to keep the last read temperature on the display.

The backlight goes out after a few seconds to save battery power but you can just tap any button and it comes back on if you need it.  The backlight can, after the thermometer has been set up, color-code the display to the doneness of the meat.  You can set the thermometer for the type of meat you're cooking, and the level of doneness you are looking to achieve.  Or, you can set the thermometer to a particular target temperature.  if you set a  temperature, the backlight will be blue when the meat is underdone, red when overdone, and green while at the target temperature (plus or minus a few degrees).

It's also got a built-in magnet, handy for sticking right on the fridge in the kitchen, or, there's also a hanging hole on the end if you have a screw, nail, or hook ready to accept it.  That way it's always at the ready. 

On top of all of that, this thermometer also TALKS!  Just press the button and it will read the temperature aloud, in both Fahrenheit or Celsius (whatever it's set to).  Great for those with vision problems, they can probe the meat, press the button, and hear the temperature.

The makers of this thermometer have paid great attention to detail with this.  Firstly, instead of a coin-cell battery, it runs on readily available AAA batteries (2), and a set of batteries are included in the box with it when purchased.  They also included a small screwdriver to open the battery compartment, and even included a rubber seal on the battery door to help prevent moisture from going in the battery compartment, causing corrosion.
