Sudan: Security Council's briefings

United Nations, 6 March 2009 - The Security Council held consultations this afternoon on Sudan. The President of the Security Council and Chargé d'affaires of the Permanent Mission of Libya, Mr. Ibrahim Dabbashi, summarized the discussions that took place in the Council. The Security Council heard two briefings:
1) The first briefing was done by Mr. Ibrahim Dabbashi himself in his national capacity and also representing the African delegations in the Council on the decisions of the African Union and the League of Arab States after the decision of the International Criminal Court on Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir.
2) The second briefing was done by Catherine Bragg, Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, Assistant Secretary-General. Mrs Bragg made a presentation on  the humanitarian situation in Sudan.
