Day three of our motorbike trip to the D-Day beaches of Normandy. 
6th June - D-Day!!
Today we first went to Utah Beach where we saw the main USA service, then we rode over to the British ceremony at Arromanches where the Mulberry floating harbour was, right next to Gold Beach. We got to meet some incredible veterans, one from REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) who hit the beaches on D-Day itself and had to get to Pegasus Bridge in order to build a Bailey Bridge over the water to help the masses of vehicles of the allied forces break out of the beaches and drive inland... look out for George Avery in the video!..
We then got to walk on Gold Beach itself... on the 6th of June, amidst all the emotional remembrance and celebrations.... wow... there are still to this day, remnants of the mulberry floating harbours, which you can actually touch! You get to touch history... insane! At one point, the mulberry harbours were the busiest port in the world!! All made in the UK and towed across the channel, insane!
it was incredible. emotional... and, well, it's hard to put into words... but I feel it is so important to be here, to meet some of the most unselfish, brave, extraordinary, heroic, selfless, wonderful people. The youngest I think was 93 this year... our veterans are fewer in number every year, it's heartbreaking....

The celebrations of the Landings last for over a month in Normandy and the emotion, gratitude and love shown to the veterans is mind blowing. you simply have to come here to witness this for yourself...

The 2018 Kawasaki Z1000sx in full touring set up was incredible. Two up and full luggage, it performed superbly.
