This is another simple three-chord song that I feel is suitable for autoharp accompaniment. As with the last one I did for autoharp, namely, Grave On The Green Hillside, I am playing in the key of G so am using G, C and D7 and playing them using my middle finger to hold down the G chord bar, and my index finger for either the C or the D7, the latter being in the middle row on my factory built 'harp.
In the annotations, I have shown where the chord changes come for a simple accompaniment, but if you wish to pick out the melody, you need to watch my fingers to see where I put in the extra chord changes necessary for this.
The title "Green Pastures" is a contraction of the original title of the song which was: "Going Up Home To Live In Green Pastures" and was sung as such by Ralph Stanley and has been covered by many more artists since, such as Ricky Skaggs, Emmylou Harris, and Alison Krauss.
