When will a baby's skull sutures (joints) fuse together?

When you're baby's born, in order to get out of the birth canal the skull bone isn't fused at all. so, you have many different sutures in your skull, and they fuse at various points through out your child's early life in the first one to two years of life. Your brain does a lot of rapid growth in the first 4 months of life. After that it slows down, but it continues to grow. So, you can imagine why it's helpful to not have a fixed space as your brain is growing. So, different sutures fuse at different times.
