A group of Kansas National Guardsmen are preparing to ship out to Iraq and will be gone for at least a year.

The group will leave in a few months from Fort Bliss, Texas.

"Getting them home for Christmas is highly important for us," said Stephanie Theiss, whose husband, Tim, will deploy just after Christmas along with dozens of other Kansas guardsmen.
