Last night Cyril Ramaphosa was announced as the new leader of the African National Congress. Ramaphosa emerged victorious over Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma. It was a close call though, given that there were only 179 votes separating them. It is the ANC's top six positions though, that have triggered a lot of debate. Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza emerged as Ramaphosa's Deputy, while Free State Premier Ace Magashule was elected to the powerful position of Secretary-General. The outcome of this position is reported to be contested, due to alleged 63 missing votes. Meanwhile, the ANC Women's League has expressed its dissatisfaction with only one female Jessie Duarte, having made it to the Top Six. All eyes will be on what the ANC is likely to do to address, the voting outcome for Magashule's position. For more news, visit: http://www.sabc.co.za/news
