This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. How do you make a computer? Why leave Tel Aviv to move to London? How can we take educative procedures based on technology to the next level? Are you wondering what the connection between all these questions is? “you can only connect the dots looking backwards” Yonatan thought explains everything in his TED talk, on the paths we take. Yonatan and the team at Kano want to give a new generation the chance to build a computer, just like Lego. Nearly 3 billion people are now online. More than 1.5 billion computing devices were sold in 2013. Nearly $10 billion is spent on public education globally every day. Yet, we see 22% youth unemployment rate in Europe and we think we’re giving our kids the (right) chance in a world with sealed devices, designed by and for a minority tech-literate population. Inspired by a Super Mario childhood, obsessive curiosity about creation, and a passion for making ideas happen, Yonatan embarked on a mission to build Kano – the first computer kit that anyone can make – simple as Lego, teaches code, gives you superpowers. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
