When I was staying in Bangkok's Chinatown in late August 2009, it was the Rainy Season and it rained everyday. The whole Chinatown became flooded during one of the evenings. Later I learned that this area was prone to flooding whenever there was heavy rain, due to its proximity to the Chao Phaya river.
