This video is related to published research in July 2013 by Brad Nolen of the University of Oregon. It first shows the initiation of actin filaments, which give support structure to cells, in the absence of the Arp2/3 protein complex, and then shows normal Y-shaped branching in the presence of Arp2/3. The activity of the filaments was captured by study co-author Luke Helgeson.
