U.S. Rep. John Garamendi

This week, the Trump administration announced its plan to slash regulations planned under President Barack Obama to fight air pollution from cars. The plan would roll back requirements that automakers roughly double the fuel economy of cars to about 54 miles per gallon by 2025. The administration is also targeting the right of states like California to set their own stricter pollution standards. We interview Sacramento Valley Rep. John Garamendi.

Border Wall Prototypes

President Trump has threatened to shut down the government if Democrats don’t approve funding for a new wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. KQED immigration reporter Julie Small went to see the concrete and steel prototypes for Trump’s proposed border wall. Small also talked to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent about what it’s like to apprehend migrants in the desert.
