This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Patrick explores the precarious balance of civilizations over the ages. Patrick, one of 7th grade TEDx's presenters, is downright philosophical. He loves to design, build, and program robots, as well as read intensely, and generally ponder (and of course sail). He joined TEDx at age 12 to experience public speaking and vamp up his relatively unexciting writing career. Patrick would like to thank his family, his friends, the teacher involved with TEDx, Mrs. Weiss, and English teacher, and Mrs. Bennet, a math teacher who inspired Patrick to write something worthwhile and entertaining. He would like for everyone to enjoy the talks that he and others have put so much work and time into. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
