This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Lyle Wildes ponders the effect of thinking and internal self-talk on attitude and behavior, and how a long-term prison sentence impacted his own view of life.

Lyle Wildes, I was born and raised on a small farm near Lime Ridge, Wis. I am a graduate from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville with degrees in sociology and philosophy. I taught philosophy at the University of Wisconsin – Richland Center for a short time before leaving the academic community to become a business owner. My brother and I own and developed a unique mobile home trucking business for over 10 years. After getting bored with our success, I left the trucking industry to become an underground chemist to manufacture synthetic cocaine. After completing a federal prison sentence, I wrote a Positive Attitude Development Workbook which was published December 9, 2008, by Whole Person Associates publishers in Duluth, Minn. I will be finishing up my Master’s degree at the UMD campus this fall. My lectures are on change and how it is related to one’s Core Values and Beliefs.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
