Lev Vlasenko playing the third movement of Beethoven's piano sonata no. 8, op. 13, Pathetique. This performance was part of a multi-pianist recital in memory of their teacher Yakov Flier. Please see the videos of Rodion Shchedrin playing Chopin(!) and Mikhail Pletnev playing Liszt for more clips from this recital. Before studying with Flier, Vlassenko studied with Anastasia Davidovna Virsaladze (the grandmother of Eliso Virsaladze) who herself studied with Anna Yesipova. In '56 Vlassenko won the Liszt Competition, and in '58 second prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition (I've uploaded his Chopin op. 17/4 mazurka from this competition). His pupils include Mikhail Pletnev. Recording date: unknown but some time after 1977. Лев Власенко
