It is adviced that fluid level in the battery cells should never drop under the level of metal plates in the battery cell. I usually check at least once a year and add distilled water until fluid level reaches about half inch (1.25 cm) over the plates. Caution; the fluid in the battery cells is sulfuric acid which is dangereous to human health and anvironment, dealing with it is at your own risk.
