Egyptians still keep a few old traditions started from very ancient times. One of them is a holiday known as Sham el Nessim, or literally, smelling the breeze. It marks the beginning of spring, and therefore, it is the spring festival of Egyptians. On this day (early April), Egyptians would do drawings on boiled egg, and eat salted fish, as part of their traditions.
