After defeating Kojiro, Musashi has successfully rescued Princess Fillet and brought her back to Allucaneet Palace, much to Ribson's surprise!

Both Musashi & Fillet think that this means that Musashi is finally able to go back home now that his journey was over. However, Ribson thought otherwise, because Thirstquencher Empire is still out there looking for Musashi & Lumina, and could even kidnap Fillet again. Musashi also still has to settle the score with Ed & Ben for stealing the village's church bell, and setting the village itself on fire.

Thus, the Plan to Seize the Thieves commences!

Talk to each of the 3 Mercenaries you should have already saved at this point for some clues on how to find the hideout the thieves may be located in. They are:

- Mercenary Potrowst: His coded message says: "Meandering Forest: Four Way Path: Gold, Knight, Knight, Knight, Bishop." With the bottom of the message torn.

- Mercenary Stue: Her coded message says: "Left, Right, Right, Left, Straight ahead." With the top and bottom of its page being torn.

- Mercenary Meilofe: His coded message says "Duh... About the Knight... D, don't worry about which way y,you're facing. Go straight ahead (up)." With the top of the page torn off.

Potrowst says that the game, Shogi, should help to decipher all of the messages when put together, so go give Scribe Shanky a visit at the library to find out how that game works as well as learn about some new things he couldn't read without Librarian Brisketta's help.

To put it simply, Shogi is like Chess:

In Shogi, Gold pieces can move in any direction except diagonally.

Knight pieces move two spaces up and one space left or right.

Lance pieces can move any number of spaces up.

Once you think you've figured out the code with this knowledge, prepare yourself to head out to Soloment Forest, then head north to Meandering Forest from there in order to use this info to search for the Thieves' Hideout.
