Gang violence is often portrayed in the media as an issue that is predominantly of young men shooting other young men. While this is tragic in its own right, Dr. Amy Faith Ho sheds a different light on this social issue. From her experience as a physician at a busy urban trauma center, Dr. Ho reframes gang violence as a man’s battle, but a woman’s war. 

Dr. Amy Faith Ho is an emergency medicine physician, writer and speaker. Her works include features in Forbes, TEDx, NPR, Chicago Tribune and media features on the TODAY Show, Discovery Channel and TLC. Dr. Ho takes a special interest in sharing a physician’s unique perspective on issues in society – violence, mental heath, addiction and healthcare policy – and uses her writing and speaking to do so.
