Claude Debussy - La puerta del vino

This is a video from my second solo piano recital, performed on July 14, 2013. This recital was a performance of preludes by Claude Debussy, and this piece is La puerta del vino (The Wine Gate), from Preludes, Book II. Apologies for the awkward camera angle - our piano is in the corner of the living room, so it's a bit difficult to film on a Flip camera in a way that can show the performer's hands and profile without the side wall getting in the way. This was the eighth piece I performed. With its swaying habanera rhythm, rolled chords that imitate flamenco guitars, and marked changes in voicing, this is one of Debussy's most distinctive preludes. Finding the right balance of pedaling and phrasing was one of my biggest challenges with learning this piece. I do think it could have been a bit cleaner, but I hope you enjoy.
