The Terrapin Twilight Criterium in Athens, GA is one of the highlights on the Maxxis racing calendar. This is the crit that started night racing in the US and it consistently draws 30,000+ spectators to the streets of downtown Athens. The Terrapin Twilight Criterium is part of the Maxxis-sponsored USA Crits Championship Series (http://usacrits.com/) and it kicks off Speed Week, which features seven crits over nine days in cities across the Southeast.

There were Maxxis-sponsored teams in the Pro category with Team TIBCO in the women's race and the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team and Team SmartStop p/b Mountain Khakis animating the men's race. In the end, Team TIBCO's Samantha Schneider finished 9th in the women's race and Maxxis riders took 2nd through 7th places in the men's race. Our Pro teams relied on our grippy Cormet race clincher (http://www.maxxis.com/Bicycle/Road-Racing/Cormet.aspx) to keep them safe through the treacherous corners and at the front of the peloton.

Athens was also home to the second stop of the Trans Jam BMX Contest Series (http://www.transjambmx.com/) which featured both Park and Flatland competitions for all skill levels from Beginner to Pro. Riders were seen on a variety of Maxxis BMX tires from the race-oriented Torch (http://www.maxxis.com/Bicycle/BMX/Torch1.aspx) to the freestyle-specific Grifter (http://www.maxxis.com/Bicycle/BMX/Grifter.aspx).
