Hello, there. Greetings. Eric Bakker. Thank you for coming back. White spots on the tongue, white tongue. People often talk to me about white tongue. They hate it. They don't like a white tongue.

Most people at some stage in their life will have a white tongue, either when you're a tiny, little baby, when you get to be an old person if you're lucky enough to get to be old, that's what it's like these days. Yeah, you're going to get a white tongue. I mean, everyone gets it occasionally. It's no big deal.

White tongue usually goes away quite easily, but there are a few reasons why you may want to be concerned about. Antibiotics in some people can really create a white tongue because it will kill so many bacteria in the gut, in the stomach, in the throat, in the mouth. All these places are lined with bacteria.

Antibiotics are indiscriminate, they'll kill anything that they come in contact with, so it's literally like flaming. You imagine if you're spraying weed killer around the place and accidentally you spray a couple of apple trees and you spray your nice prized turf and stuff like that. It's all going to die, you're going to kill it, and if it doesn't die, it will knock it right back. It will make it very sick and it may recover.

Antibiotics are the same. They'll kill on contact. As soon as these spores get released, they start destroying, so the trick is not to take antibiotics. In most cases, you don't need these devastating drugs.

There are other ways you can clear up problems in the gut apart from antibiotics.

Smokers are more prone to getting white tongue and especially people who drink alcohol regularly. People who drink alcohol tend to have a completely different gut than people who don't drink alcohol. I've seen a lot of studies conducted on drinkers, so the more you drink, the more you'll disturb the beneficial flora and encourage parasites and yeast and bad bacteria to grow.

Alcohol's a really tough one for the mouth. Now, I like a glass of wine or a beer like anyone else, but I've learned over the years to take it really easy with that kind of stuff because it really rocks the foundation of the beneficial bacteria, so just be careful.

You can get lichen planus in the mouth or leukoplakia. These are different conditions that in rare instances may signify particular types of cancer, but it's extremely rare. I find a couple of puffs of colloidal silver in the mouth, just [inaudible], you can get like a little spray of it. It's a good little oral rinse to clean the mouth out. Don't use those alcoholic mouthwashes. They're gross and again, you're going to kill a lot of bacteria, good ones, in the mouth as well.

Colloidal silver won't do that. If you have very light application, 10 parts per million spray, a few pumps, rinse your mouth with water and spit it out. Two drops of tea tree oil in a glass of warm water, thoroughly rinse the mouth, spit it out. Oil pulling, get some sesame oil, get a dessert spoon or a tablespoon. Roll it around your mouth continually in the morning first thing, spit it out. This is going to help attract a lot of bacteria into it, which you're going to reject.

There are many different methods to clean and sanitize the mouth. Be sure to brush your teeth properly and floss them. Get regular dental exams by a hygienist. It's very important to look after your teeth. You need great teeth to be sure to get to be an old person like me. You want good teeth. You can chew food. Remember, chewing is health. As soon as those teeth go down, oral health goes down, your health will go down. In my opinion, teeth are your prized possession. Look after them. Thanks for tuning in.
