Sippie Wallace was a blues pioneer who began recording in the 1920'a. I met her in Detroit when she was 82, still singing in nightclubs on Saturday night and playing the organ and directing the church choir on Sunday morning. She was a little difficult to understand when she talked, but her message came through loud and clear when she sang. I did this story about Sippie for the Today Show in 1980. She sang such classics as "Up the Country Blues", "Woman Be Wise", and "I'm A Mighty Tight Woman".
