Darren Walker was one of six recipients to receive the Texas Exes 2009 Distinguished Alumnus Award on October 9. This is the acceptance speech he gave at the event. Walker received a BS & BA in 1982 and a JD 1986 from The University of Texas at Austin. He lives in New York and is vice president of the Rockefeller Foundation. He has been a leader in revitalizing Harlem and has served on numerous charitable boards in New York and internationally.
