The RX8 coils aren't particularly long lasting, so we are currently torture testing alternatives to the Mazda oem coil packs. This video shows coil packs having to work hard producing large sparks to jump large gaps, one Mazda one and one alternative. These cycles were constantly repeated with the efficiency of the coil packs being measured at intervals....
