The fall is the wrong time to aerate Bermuda lawns. Lawns need to be aerated when they are actively growing. For Bermuda the best time is late spring and early summer. If you aerate in the fall you expose the roots to winter cold which will damage the grass. Cool season grasses can be aerated in the fall.
