United Nations - The President of the UN Security Council for the month of October, Vitaly Churkin, has described Mr. António Guterres, the new nominee for the position of UN Secretary-General, as someone who “has great United Nations credentials” and a great choice for the job. Mr. Churkin made those remarks shortly after announcing the formal nomination and recommendation of Mr. Guterres for the position of UN Secretary-General. He was responding to a question from the press regarding what convinced the Council to rally behind Mr. Guterres.
