More space news and info at: http://www.coconutsciencelab.com - a telescope view of dwarf galaxy Markarian 177 and object SDSS1133 is compared with a computer simulation of a galaxy collision.

When the central black holes in the simulated galaxies combine, a "kick" launches the merged black hole on a wide orbit taking it far from the galaxy's core.

According to the computer simulation, SDSS1133 may be a supermassive black hole that was kicked out of Markarian 177 during a recent galaxy collision.

There is also a possibility that the object seen through telescopes is not a black hole at all, but an outburst from a huge "mega-star" - not unlike the star Eta Carinae, located in our own galaxy.
