The SSC Group is hoping to re-open the Lily Mine in Barberton - which was the scene of a 2016 tragedy. It wants to start operations early next year with additional funding. But ,the question of whether the remains of three miners will be recovered, is still a painful issue. They died when a container they were in collapsed in 2016. 900 workers have since been retrenched – and this week the deal to revive the mine seemed on the verge of collapse.
