A few months ago Joe Pierce make some pretty cool blanks. I commented on his video and he sent one to me. I wasn't sure what to make of it then I decided to make my first bottle stopper.  It's made from maple and walnut. If you haven't made a bottle stopper, I suggest you give it a try. It was super easy and super fun. Plus it makes a great present
