(14 Oct 2018) BRAZILIAN CULTURE AND PERSONAL MEMORY INSPIRES COLLECTIONS AT LISBON FASHION WEEK Lisbon Fashion Week continued Saturday (13 OCT. 2018) with collections from designers inspired by Brazilian culture. Designer Aleksandar Protic said he was influenced after "following videos online of young Brazilians having problems for being different." "The majority are LGBT people, it is also related to Brazilian politics, to what is happening now," he added after the show. "I always think of Brazil as a place that can save our planet one day, maybe because the Amazon is also the lung of the planet, it was all around that, this is also why I used these colors. I believe Brazilian people to be very strong and they will make it and we will make it together with them. I see Brazil and Latin America as a hub of survival for our Earth." Blues, yellow and grey colored a collection that did not intend to be political but rather supportive of Brazil's people and heritage. The former-Yugoslavia native now established in Portugal, says he believes the country can survive all the turmoil it is experiencing in the present with the upcoming election in which a far-right candidate is leading the polls to become the next Brazilian President. "I only knew about the elections after (the collection), only now, but it is what led me to think about them. Elsewhere, Portuguese designer Alexandra Moura brought the sound of bells to the catwalk, evoking time spent at her grandmother's house in the Portuguese countryside. Moura also took part in this edition of Lisbon Fashion Week as the solo representative of Portugal Fashion, the Portuguese Fashion Week that takes place in Porto. Lisbon Fashion Week comes to a close Sunday 14th October.
