It always kills me when I meet an incredibly talented person who can't afford even the basics of life - food, water and shelter. This song is about a man I met on Peachtree Street downtown in Atlanta, GA. He had one of the most incredible voices I have ever heard and I will always remember listening to him sing and wondering - how can a man that talented end up here?

Lyrics:
Hey there mister music man
I couldn't help but notice that guitar in your hand
I'd like to take a minute of your time if I can
I promise I won't ask for single dime, man

I just wanna sing one song
You can trust me I've been sober for 15 years strong
And I promise it won't take too long
And if you don't like it -- I'll just run a long

I used to know old Willie D
He'd let me eat at his corner bar for free
If I played a couple of my melodies
You see this guy you see wasn't always me

Back then I had a family to feed
Best things that ever happened to me
But I couldn't ever seem to make ends meet
And I couldn't fix my home with harmonies

That man's song really set me back
I didn't have a clue how to react
I never heard a man sing like that
The city walls all resonated back

I thanked man for sharing his soul
I wish I could've given him my weight in gold
But I had enough to get him outta the cold
And just enough to help him pay the tolls

Just before he walked away
He point towards my heart and started to say
If you want to sing man -- that's the way
Cause nobody'll ever take that away
