Way before digital wallets became a thing in China, coins helped drivers feed parking meters, taught kids about the value of money, and saved wishful thinkers standing next to fountains. An exhibition in Xiamen, southeast China’s Fujian Province, is celebrating the 60th anniversary of RMB coins entering circulation. Since December 1, 1957 a total of four sets of coins have entered circulation. Over 2,000 types of commemorative coins are on display at the event.
