Rush play Bravado at Webster Bank Arena

Lynn and I went to see Rush in Bridgeport, Ct. last night and it was the best I've heard them sound since the R30 tour. Of course it sounded much better than the quality my phone captured. I wonder if they got themselves a new live sound engineer? If it was where our seats were? Or the venue itself? In any case, the sound was clear, punchy and not too loud. Geddy's voice was in great shape and sat well above the music. I thought the bass could nave been a little more crisp and present in the mix but, given the overall quality, I'm more than happy to forgive that. The guitar sound was especially good and I just read that Alex is no longer using the Hughes and Kettner rigs. I don't know if the last tour's meltdowns had anything to do with that decision. I know many people are not happy with their song choices but the first set contained some of my all time favorite material and songs I thought I'd never hear them play again. This afternoon I started messing around with two of the older songs that they played and I haven't yet covered. This was the mellowest song the played, beside "The Garden", and doesn't do the light show justice. As always the lights and video presentations were top notch. Speaking of lights, their longtime lighting director, Howard Ungerleider, walked right by our seats before the start of the show and gave a wave and a smile when we said hello. I'm sure he would have stopped for a photo if we'd asked but I didn't want to trouble him.
